Semblance (SMBL)

A fixed-supply, permissionless token on BNB Chain, and a members' platform built around financial self-custody.

Whitepaper, version 1.0. Official address: semblance.finance. This document describes contracts that exist and have been tested; anything not yet built is marked as planned.

1. Summary

Semblance is two things. The first is SMBL, a BEP-20 token on BNB Chain with a supply fixed at 21,000,000, no owner, no transfer tax, no blacklist and no pause function. The second is a members' platform: wallets that register on-chain gain access to a three-phase presale and to member tools that will be released over time.

The project rests on one idea: people should be able to hold and move value without asking an intermediary for permission and without handing over their identity. Semblance does not collect names, emails or documents. A wallet is the only identity it knows.

Everything in this paper that is described as live exists as deployed-ready, tested code. Everything that is not yet built is labeled Planned.

2. The problem

Moving money through the traditional system means passing through intermediaries: banks, card networks, payment processors and platforms. Each one charges for the service, sets its own hours, can delay or freeze funds, and requires identity documents that are then stored in databases exposed to breaches.

For many ordinary uses the cost is tolerable. For others it is not: cross-border payments that take days, freelancers whose platforms hold payouts, families sending small amounts home at high relative cost, and software agents that cannot open a bank account at all.

Public blockchains remove most intermediaries. They do not, by themselves, make it easy for an ordinary person to join a new project without a centralized sign-up. Semblance focuses on that last part: participation that requires nothing but a wallet.

3. What Semblance is, and is not

Clarity about limits is part of being trustworthy. Semblance is:

Semblance is not:

4. Value proposition and the token test

A serious reader should ask: if you remove the token, does the project still make sense? Our honest answer has two parts.

What would survive without a token

The members' platform could exist without SMBL. A registration fee and a set of useful tools can sustain a product on their own. That is deliberate: a project whose only product is its token has nothing left if the price falls.

What the token adds

Where we stand today. The member tools are in development and are not yet live. Until they ship, the value of SMBL rests mainly on its fixed supply and on adoption, which is speculative. We state this plainly so that no one buys SMBL for a utility that does not yet exist.

5. Technical architecture

Semblance deliberately uses only technology that exists and is in production today. There is no new consensus mechanism, no custom chain and no experimental cryptography.

5.1 Network

SMBL runs on BNB Smart Chain, an EVM-compatible network. Since the Fermi upgrade of January 2026, BNB Smart Chain produces blocks every 0.45 seconds [1]. Transfers typically confirm in about a second and cost a few cents in network fees.

5.2 Contracts

All contracts are written in Solidity 0.8.24 and built on OpenZeppelin Contracts 5, the most widely used and audited library in the ecosystem.

ContractPurposeAdmin powers
Semblance (SMBL)BEP-20 token. 21,000,000 minted once at deployment. Holders can burn their own tokens.None. No owner, no mint, no pause, no blacklist, no tax.
SemblanceMembershipOn-chain member registry. A wallet becomes a member by paying a one-time fee, sent directly to the treasury.Set fee token and amount, set treasury, open or close registration, grant or revoke membership. Every action emits a public event. Cannot move anyone's funds.
SemblancePresaleMembers-only presale in three phases, paid in approved tokens. Holds funds until launch, then delivers SMBL to each investor's wallet.Configure phases before they open, cancel, finalize, withdraw raised funds only after finalizing, and deliver SMBL to investors: only the exact amount each one bought, only to the wallet that paid. Cannot change a phase once open. Cannot touch payment tokens before finalizing.
SemblanceVestingTime-locks for the project reserve, community and listings allocations. A thin wrapper around OpenZeppelin's audited VestingWallet with a cliff.None. No withdraw, no override. Tokens can only go to the beneficiary, on schedule.

5.3 On-chain accounting

The membership and presale contracts keep their own complete records: every member with join date, fee paid and status; every purchase with investor, time, phase, payment token, amount paid and SMBL bought; each investor's delivery or refund time; and, per payment token, the totals raised, refunded and withdrawn. These records are public and permanent, so anyone can audit the totals, and the project needs no private database of investors at all. The project's reporting console reads these records directly, reconciles every token that entered and left the contracts, flags any mismatch, and exports the results for accounting.

Semblance works with wallets, not people. Each wallet is identified internally by a Member ID, such as Member-7K3QF9A: a fixed seven-character code derived mathematically from the wallet address, so anyone can recompute it and no personal data is involved.

Ownership of the membership and presale contracts uses a two-step transfer to prevent loss through a mistyped address. The project intends to move this ownership to a multi-signature wallet before launch Planned.

5.4 Website

The official site at semblance.finance is a single self-contained page. It loads no third-party scripts, fonts or trackers and sets no cookies. A strict Content Security Policy tells the browser to execute only code whose exact fingerprint matches the published version, which blocks injected scripts, the technique behind several major front-end attacks in the industry. The site never requests unlimited token approvals; it asks the wallet to approve only the exact amount being paid.

A Language option translates the site into 20 languages using the translator built into the visitor's browser (Chrome and Edge on desktop), which runs on the visitor's own device. No third-party translation script is loaded into the page, so translation never weakens its security policy. Addresses, Member IDs, amounts and token symbols are never translated, and the English text prevails in case of doubt.

A reporting console appears only when the project's own wallet is connected. Hiding it is a convenience, not the security boundary: every administrative action is enforced by the contracts, which reject any wallet other than the owner.

Wallets connect through three routes: automatic detection of browser wallets (EIP-6963), WalletConnect for mobile wallets, and direct links that open the site inside wallet apps. Any wallet that supports BNB Chain can participate.

6. Tokenomics

A good project with bad token distribution fails, because distribution determines future selling pressure. This section is therefore the most detailed in the paper.

6.1 Supply

21,000,000 SMBL, minted once. The contract has no function to create more. Holders may burn their own tokens, which can only reduce supply.

6.2 Allocation and locks

AllocationShareSMBLLock and release
Liquidity (decentralized exchanges)40%8,400,000Paired with the base asset in exchange pools at launch. Liquidity-provider tokens locked for at least 12 months with a public, audited locker. The lock link is published on day one.
Presale (3 phases, members only)25%5,250,000Delivered in full to each investor's wallet on launch day, after the project deposits every investor's SMBL. Unsold presale tokens are not released to the team (see 6.4).
Project reserve (team and development)15%3,150,000Vesting contract: 12-month cliff, then linear release until month 36. Nothing is available to the team at launch.
Community and marketing10%2,100,000Vesting contract: linear release over 24 months, no cliff.
Future listings10%2,100,000Vesting contract: 3-month cliff, then linear release until month 12.
Total100%21,000,000

The team's share (the project reserve) is 15%, below the 20 to 25% range that analysts typically treat as a centralization risk, and it is fully locked for the first year.

6.3 Circulating supply and selling pressure

At launch, the tokens that can be sold are the presale tokens delivered to investors and the small first tranches of the community allocation. The liquidity allocation sits inside exchange pools and cannot be withdrawn while locked. The project reserve releases nothing for twelve months.

The largest source of early selling pressure is therefore the presale itself: presale prices are below the launch price by design, and presale tokens are delivered in full at launch. Investors should factor this in.

6.4 Unsold presale tokens

If the presale does not sell its full allocation, the unsold SMBL is not added to the team's holdings. It will be either added to launch liquidity or burned, and the chosen option will be announced before launch with the corresponding on-chain transaction.

7. Utility

Tokens without real use tend to lose value over time. We therefore separate what SMBL can do today from what is planned.

UseDescriptionStatus
Store of value and transferFixed supply, self-custody, peer-to-peer transfers on BNB Chain.Live at launch
Membership fee in SMBLThe membership contract already accepts any token as the fee. After launch, the fee can be set in SMBL, turning new registrations into direct demand.Supported by the contract
Member toolsTools available only to registered wallets, released progressively inside the members' area.Planned
Governance signalingMembers sign votes with their wallets on project decisions, weighted by SMBL held, with results published.Planned
Machine paymentsAny software agent with a BNB Chain wallet can hold and move SMBL. No integration is required for basic use.Live at launch

8. Presale mechanics

  1. Membership first. Only wallets registered in the membership contract can contribute.
  2. Three phases, rising price. Each phase has its own dates, allocation, minimum purchase and per-wallet limit. For every payment token, the contract rejects any phase priced equal to or below the previous one.
  3. Prices lock when a phase opens. Once phase 1 starts, no date can change and the soft cap is locked.
  4. Payment in approved tokens. Payment tokens, such as stablecoins, are chosen by the project and shown in the members' area with their prices. Tokens that charge a fee on transfer are rejected. BNB is reserved for the public launch.
  5. Funds stay in the contract. Raised funds can be withdrawn only after the project deposits every investor's SMBL and finalizes.
  6. Automatic refunds. Every investor can recover exactly what they paid, in the same tokens, if the soft cap is not reached, if the presale is cancelled, or if the project does not finalize within the published window.
  7. Delivery on launch day. SMBL is sent automatically, in batches, to the wallet each investor paid from. The wallet address is the investor's account and only identity: there is no other form or registration. Investors who prefer not to wait for their batch can pull their own SMBL at any time after launch.

9. Team and accountability

Semblance is built by an anonymous team. We do not hide that this raises risk: anonymous teams are harder to hold accountable, and investors are right to demand more evidence from them.

Our answer is to remove, wherever possible, the need to trust the team at all:

Partners

Semblance has partners. They share the principle the project is built on: economic freedom does not require giving up your identity. Just as members are never asked who they are, partners have chosen not to be named, and we respect that choice.

We also recognize what this means for a careful reader: a partnership whose participants are not named cannot be independently verified. So we hold ourselves to three rules:

10. Security and audits

10.1 Current status

The contracts are covered by an automated test suite of 66 tests, including attack scenarios such as reentrancy, fee-on-transfer tokens, unauthorized access and early withdrawal attempts. The website is covered by 154 automated end-to-end checks in a real browser, including its security policy and clickjacking protection.

Internal tests are not an audit. A third-party audit by a recognized firm is planned before mainnet launch. The full report, including any findings and how they were fixed, will be published on semblance.finance. Until then, no third-party audit should be assumed.

10.2 Operational security

11. Roadmap

Stages are listed in order. Dates are announced only when a stage is ready, to avoid promises that depend on circumstances outside our control.

12. Risks

Anyone considering SMBL should read this section carefully.

How to size any early-stage crypto position

This is general guidance, not personal advice. Before putting money into early-stage tokens, a prudent order is: first, an emergency reserve of six to twelve months of living costs in low-risk, liquid assets; second, a base portfolio of traditional investments and, within crypto, established assets; only then, a small share for high-risk tokens, typically 1 to 5% of a crypto portfolio, and only an amount whose total loss would not change your standard of living.

Participation may not be lawful in every jurisdiction; each participant is responsible for complying with the laws and taxes that apply to them.
